The lightweight kraft paper used in the manufacture of honeycomb lends itself to many different applications. Honeycomb can be used as an inner or outer packaging product as well as blocking and filling, shock absorbing and pallets.
Honeycombs strength comes from the continuous uniform arrangement of hexagonal cells giving it a high resistance to vertical compression. Being made from kraft paper and water based glue honeycomb is completely recyclable and can be produced in sheets from 10mm to 110mm thick. Different finishes can be applied to honeycomb making it even more adaptable, a PE coat can be used to repel moisture whilst a clay finish makes the boards idea for printing. CNC machining also allows honeycomb to be shaped for relatively small production runs (150m²+).
Nefab has experience in using honeycomb as packaging for large generators through to small electronic parts. All of which were custom made solutions perfect for the task.
Benefits of Honeycomb:
Wide field of application
Reusable and recyclable
PE film coating for humidity resistance available
Strong, high resistance to vertical compression
Low freight cost
Easy to handle
The lightweight and flexible design possibilities of honeycomb make the product a competitive alternative to other products such as expendable wooden pallets. Honeycomb has gained wide acceptance in Japan, United States and Europe thanks to its many benefits.
